Breast Lift - Mastoplexy
Dr. Kameron s. Rezzadeh
The natural effects of aging, heredity, pregnancy, breastfeeding not to mention simple gravity can cause a woman’s breasts to droop and lose their shape and firmness. A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, can uplift and restore some of their youthful contours.

What is a Breast Lift?
The procedure involves trimming excess skin and tightening support tissues so that breasts sit higher on the chest and feel firmer to the touch. Breast lifts can also reposition and reduce the size of the areola – the dark skin surrounding the nipple – which may have stretched and drooped as well.
Considering Breast Lift Surgery? Keep 2 Things in Mind.
Women considering a mastopexy should keep two things in mind. One, optimum results are achieved among women who are not planning future pregnancies. While a breast lift will not impact the ability to breastfeed, pregnancy and nursing can counteract achieved results by stretching the skin. And two, women should maintain a stable weight because any sizable fluctuation post-surgery can impact the shape of the breasts.
How is this Surgery Performed?
A breast lift is performed under general anesthesia and lasts from one to three hours. The design of the incisions will vary but typically involve one of three different patterns depending on the patient’s shape and the desired correction. The patterns are commonly referred to as a donut lift (peri-areolar), a vertical lift (lollipop), or an anchor pattern lift.
A breast lift does not affect breast size or upper fullness. Women desiring larger, smaller or more rounded breasts may want to consider a breast augmentation or a breast reduction either together with a breast lift or in the place of one. A double procedure can typically be performed in a single surgery session.
Post Surgery & Downtime
Post-surgery, breasts are wrapped with gauze dressing and will likely be bruised and swollen. Most patients resume light daily activities within a week to ten days and can expect a return to full activity about 3 to 4 weeks after surgery.
