Top of the Line Tattoo Removal Technology

For years, people who regretted getting tattoos and wanted them removed had little recourse. Removal techniques were invasive (requiring surgery) and painful. But with advent of laser skin treatment, all of that is changing. Also, the cost of tattoo removal has been significantly reduced by using a laser for tattoo removal.

At Contour Dermatology, we have two options for tattoo removal. The premier option we utilize is the PicoWay laser, the newest and most effective laser on the market today.

It features Picosecond technology to transmit strong pulses needed to break down pigment in a short duration of time. It is effective for the treatment of tattoos and cutaneous pigmented lesions. The strong pulses lead to the pigment being broken down into dust-sized particles, and possible clearance in fewer treatments than other lasers.

The PicoWay also excels in removing more complex colors such as red, orange and yellow inks. The PicoWay laser is safe to use on any skin type.

The more affordable option for tattoo removal in a safe and effective manner is the MedLite C6 laser. The MedLite laser is also a great tattoo removal system. The tattoo removal costs are minimal and cost effective for every budget.

Both lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles and eliminated by the body.

The number of treatments regardless of the laser, depends on the size, location, depth, and color of your tattoo. Large or heavily pigmented tattoos can require many treatments for optimum results.

When you come in for an initial consultation, we will be able to give you an estimate on how many treatments it will take to remove/lighten your tattoo. Treatment sessions usually last from 10 to 30 minutes. You will see a lightening of your tattoo after each treatment as your body disposes of more pigment.

After your tattoo removal laser treatment, a scab will form over the area. Your skin may have a white discoloration at first, and the area around the tattoo may be reddish and could have some swelling. The scab will fall off in about a week and as the skin heals the fading will begin. Maximum treatment results take about five to six weeks.
