The McCallum Theatre’s mission is to entertain, educate, and enrich the Coachella Valley community through world-class performances, critically acclaimed education experiences, and serving as the desert’s premier performing arts center. Since 1997, the Education Department has served nearly one million students, educators, and community members with performances and arts education experiences.
The theatre opened in January, 1988 with an all-star tribute to Bob Hope featuring performances by Van Cliburn, Lucille Ball, the Alvin Ailey dancers, and Sarah Brightman. VIPS in the audience that night included Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Gerald and Betty Ford, and Walter and Leonore Annenberg. The McCallum is acclaimed as one of the country’s finest presenting theaters, with ticket sales in the top 50 theaters in the world.
