Laser Hair Removal

Save Time and Money

The best part of these laser treatments is that they are relatively painless and can remove up to 90% of your unwanted hair!

Permanently shave off several minutes from your daily routine with laser hair removal

There is no shame in admitting that hair grows all over our bodies and many of us add on several minutes to our daily routine to trim, wax, tweeze, or shave our unwanted hair. The worst part about it? It always grows back. For over twenty years, Contour Dermatology provides permanent laser hair removal services for patients just like you. You can ditch your (overused) store-bought razor and painful at-home wax kit that has been collecting dust bunnies. If you are self-conscious about any of your hair, we can remove it for you!

And yes, you can get laser hair removal on any part of your body except your eyelashes.

What lasers does Contour Dermatology offer?

Laser hair removal is surprisingly safe and simple thanks to Contour’s state-of-the-art line of lasers. Although the best candidates are those with dark hair and light skin, darker skin tones are also treated. Read on to learn more about our two lasers specializing in hair removal.

  1. GentleLase – for light to medium skin tones
GentleLase targets the hair follicle with a high-energy concentrated light beam that the pigment in the hair’s root absorbs. These longer wavelengths allow for deeper absorption that destroys the hair root without harming any nearby areas.
  2. GentleYAG Laser – for darker skin tones
We added the GentleYAG Pro-U laser to our collection of lasers back in 2014 to include a treatment option for darker skin which is more difficult to treat than lighter skin tones. This is because the laser has a harder time differentiating between the hair root and the nearby skin. This laser matches the results of GentleLase by deeply penetrating the skin with minimal scattering of laser energy, making it ideal for darker skin tones.

The best part of these laser treatments is that they are relatively painless and can remove up to 90% of your unwanted hair! The appointment process is very simple; one of our staff will provide you with a topical numbing cream for the area a few minutes prior to treatment. You may still feel a sensation of a slight rubber band snap against your skin combined with an enjoyable cooling effect thanks to patented epidermal cooling cryogen technology that cools the surrounding skin while aiming the laser energy directly towards the hair follicle. That’s it!

How should I prepare for my appointment?

If you are considering laser hair removal, you should stop using salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or any self-tanning lotions for a month in advance while refraining from waxing, tweezing, and plucking the hair.

You should shave around two days prior to your visit so that you have light stubble. This will prevent any superficial hair from burning during the treatment, thereby ensuring greater accuracy.

Poolside tans and summers in the desert go hand in hand, but if you are considering getting laser hair removal, it is imperative that you skip your next tanning session to avoid hypopigmentation. The tan will give you a darkened overall pigment that makes it difficult for the laser to find the root pigment. Tanning should be avoided anyway since it is a major contributor to skin cancer later on in life.

There is no downtime for laser hair removal, but you should prepare to experience a slight redness and mild swelling similar to a sunburn. You might also notice light blistering and hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation depending on your skin’s response to the laser. It usually takes only three to five treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart to achieve your desired results.

Stop being late for work because you were shaving too long in the shower…again! Make an appointment with Contour Dermatology and remove your unwanted hairs for good.
