Pigmentation after an acne lesion is common in darker skin types; and is often confused as a “scar”. Hyperpigmentation does not have texture, it only has discoloration.
The first step is to get the acne under control. For moderate to severe acne, I typically recommend Accutane. It’s a proven therapy and only requires a short course, but has long-lasting results.
