With extensive training and experience, Dr. Chakka is now available to see patients for medical skin examinations, diagnosis, and treatments, as well as cosmetic injectibles and procedures.
Dr. Chakka's Educational Background
Dr. Chakka’s credentials include a Medical Degree from the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine. She performed her Residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, NJ, and SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, ‘s Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Chakka was the proud recipient of the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) – Albert M. Kligman/SID Fellowship Award, the University of Pennsylvania/Department of Dermatology – NIH T32 Dermatology Training Grant and Dermatology Research Training Grant, and the University of California, Riverside/School of Medicine – Bryant/Small Scholarship, for leadership and a deep commitment to the study of medicine.
Medicine is a Family Affair
Dr. Chakka was raised primarily in Orange County after immigrating from India with her parents at age six. Medicine is a family affair. Both of Dr. Chakka’s parents are practicing dentists in the Inland Empire, and her husband is a radiologist. Growing up, she sensed some expectation that she would enter the medical field, but her parents allowed her to explore her interests. She did that as an undergrad but soon realized she wanted to pursue a medical career and ultimately specialize. “Dermatology is really where I feel most comfortable with my own skills.”
As an undergrad and then a medical student, Dr. Chakka covered a lot of territory. She studied at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, then enrolled at the UC Riverside School of Medicine. She later completed residencies at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
“I wanted to do my training outside of California because deep in my heart, I knew I would always come back. California is my home.” Always enthusiastic about traveling around the U.S., Dr. Chakka eagerly fulfilled dermatology rotations as a resident doctor in states as diverse as Minnesota, Rhode Island and Texas.
“I chose to specialize in dermatology because it’s where I can really hone in on how to help my patients find happiness and confidence in themselves.”

Dr. Chakka was instantly drawn to the practice’s wide scope and the fact it handles medical, cosmetic and procedural dermatology. She also appreciates the mentorship Dr. Jochen more than willingly provides. “There’s a real cohesiveness at Contour and a strong sense of collaboration that appeals to me.”
Dr. Chakka specializes in all medical skin examinations, diagnoses, and treatments. She performs surgeries and cancer treatments, including certain types of cancer surgeries for melanoma and lipoma. She also specializes in cosmetic treatments with an eye for aesthetics when injecting fillers. She divides her time between the Loma Linda office and Contour’s three Coachella Valley locations.
When she isn’t practicing her chosen specialty, Dr. Chakka enjoys spending time with her husband, their toddler daughter, and extended family members. Other interests include Tabata training, trivia games, and working to expand her cooking repertoire.
