Safe and Effective for the Chin and Other Areas
It’s safe, it’s effective, and now it’s FDA-approved! Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC pioneers in the world of fillers as the first of its kind to receive approval for the chin. This marks Allergan’s fifth FDA clearance for its Collection of Fillers in the United States. Voluma™ was previously approved by the FDA in 2013 in the cheek for age-related volume deficits. Allergan Aesthetics, its parent company, is known for facial injectables, body contouring, plastics, skin care, and more.
Which Patients will benefit from Juvéderm Voluma for the Chin?
The chin is an area of the face that is often overlooked, and most patients do not realize that an improperly balanced chin is preventing the facial symmetry they seek. Liquid chin augmentation enhances the appearance of the chin and lower part of the face by bringing more chin projection and definition without surgery.
Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC is an injection for cheek and chin augmentation that targets age-related volume deficits in the middle of the face and in the chin region in adults over the age of 21. Voluma™ improves the chin profile by adding greater structure and definition in poorly defined or under-projected chins. Voluma™ does this by contouring the chin area to help restore a symmetrical balance to the face.
Voluma is a long-lasting hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can augment and better define your cheeks and chin for custom enhanced facial volume.
Voluma as the first and only filler approved for chin augmentation.
How is Juvéderm Voluma Different?
Juvéderm® Voluma™ filler is a clear, hyaluronic acid-based injectable part of Allergan’s collection of fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that helps bind water to the body’s cells, appearing smooth and natural when injected into the skin. Since this is not an invasive treatment, the procedure only needs a topical anesthesia application and takes less than twenty minutes.
Contour's Well Trained Facial Filler Injectiors
Contour Dermatology’s providers are trained to have a deep understanding of the chin’s anatomy, including its soft tissues and underlying skeletal framework. They assess the face by drawing a line from the corner of the eye to the chin to determine its alignment.
If the line is not straight, it indicates a recessive chin, and fillers may be recommended to enhance its appearance. To avoid an unnatural or rubbery look, the providers at Contour Dermatology use various techniques, such as molding the chin to harmonize with the rest of the facial features, ensuring the most natural-looking results.
Side Effects
Juvéderm Voluma side effects are temporary and may include tenderness, swelling, lumps, pain, or bruising. If you do not like the results, the filler can be reversed with hyaluronidase.
Many patients use this filler as a way to foresee the results of a chin surgery before committing themselves this operation. For patients who indicate the need for a larger implant, surgical chin implants may still be the best option. Surgical chin implants can take many months for the skin to heal and for the swelling to subside.
For smaller chin enhancements, Voluma™ is the best method of treatment. It can also accompany a rhinoplasty which also can be performed without surgery via filler to achieve greater facial symmetry. This works by properly enlarging the chin area which will make the nose appear smaller. This can also diminish the appearance of the jowls.
Clinical Trail Results
Voluma’s clinical trials successfully treated all genders, ages (over 21), races, and ethnicities. The results of the filler can last from eighteen to twenty-four months in the chin. Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC accomplishes a more defined jawline, tightened look to the neck, and a better overall chin profile. Because of this satisfaction, most patients continue using Voluma™ for chin augmentation instead of undergoing surgery.
