1. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. When you don’t get enough sleep the body produces excess cortisol, a hormone that breaks down skin cells.
  2. Sleep on your back. After years of sleeping on your side of the bed you’ll start to notice that those bed marks will soon start turning into wrinkles! A recent study by the American Academy of Dermatology states that sleeping on your side causes wrinkles on your cheeks and chin, and that sleeping face down causes your brow to furrow!
  3. Don’t squint! Whether it’s because of the sun or because you can’t read a sign, get some glasses. Repetitive facial movement will overwork your muscles and cause a groove to form.
  4. Wear sunscreen and avoid the sun! This is by far the number one reason people age so quickly. The sun’s rays cause damage to the dermis and cause collagen to break down faster than normal.
  5. Avoid Smoking. Smoking has been directly linked to causing premature aging of the skin. Cigarette smoke releases an enzyme that breaks up collagen and elastin fibers, both components are super important in maintain skin elasticity and preventing fine lines and wrinkles.
  6. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and Vegetables are rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants quench free radicals and help prevent the unnecessary breakdown of collagen in the skin.
